Take Action:
Example 1: Packaging Efficiency Project
The packaging efficiency project was from geometry freshman year. In this project we had to take a standard packaged consumer product and find the efficient way that this product could be packaged using knowledge we had learned in geometry. At the end of the project we took action by emailing the company that manufactures that specific product and giving suggestions on how they could package their product more efficiently. This project was really the first time that we actually took action in AGS by emailing the company and was a good example of the things we would be doing in the years to come.

Example 2: TGPLAN
During our sophomore year we were assigned an AGS group project called TGPLAN (Think Globally, Problem-Solve Locally, Act Neighborly). In this project my group decided to focus on water pollution as our issue that we were going to research and take action on. After doing research and interviewing an expert we saw that one of the biggest ways water pollution was happening in Austin was from people just littering plastic products. So in order to make an impact locally we decided we would install water bottle refill stations on the water fountains at school that way people could easily refill their water bottles without having to use and potentially litter plastic water bottles. I really liked this project and as a group I think a great outcome and I'm glad I was able to play a part in getting something actually installed at Austin High which probably remain for the foreseeable future.
